We’re finally back! It’s been since August of 2014 (our premiere of “A Book Is Not A Ladder” at Summerstage!) but we’ve been called back to the big city again. This time, for the world’s largest theater and performing arts networking forum and marketplace: APAP. We’ll be performing alongside fellow circus companies at the beautiful Skirball Center for Performing Arts via CN:ICE presented by Circus Now! Such an honor to be invited. See the lineup here!
And, how exciting: we have our original cast members Jacki and Nicolo Kehrwald back with us! But, alas, no Terry again. He took a gig with Teatro Zinzanni this season so we’ve been missing him on our last couple trips! But, he’s back in action after January, just in time for our exciting 2016 tour!! More details on that later..
Despite missing Terry, it’s hard not to be excited about having the amazing Anna Thomas-Henry joining the cast yet again (with the fabric act so freaking good I watched it in rehearsal on Monday and then went home and watched it again online… and it’s NOT the first time I’m seeing it… mesmerizing.).
We all entered the studio together just two days ago to refresh the choreography and edit our 2-hour show to a sweet 40-minute version. Thanks so much to Katheryn Reed who jumped in to help breathe life back into “Acro Arco”, our final group piece that she originally choreographed. Rehearsals were jam packed into two days but we were all smiles by the time we finished our run on Tuesday afternoon! Everyone scrambled to get packed and ready and we were off to catch our red eye to the other coast that night. Last night to be exact.
Well, I can’t much speak for the rest of the crew (I know a few people went to train at The Muse!), but I arrived at my host’s place, pulled out the sofa bed and crashed. Forcing myself to wake up a few hours later so that I could sleep tonight, I anticipate a solid 12-hour sleep before a 6am wake up time to make our 8am tech time! That’s east coast time, folks, gonna feel like 5am to us Seattle-ites! Luckily, we get a mid-afternoon break before the show that evening. At least we’re not teching today as was the original plan!
By the way? It’s been a while for us ex-east coasters (ahem, mid-west technically, for some of us.) I was not the only one glove-less when we got off that plane and holy **** it was cold. At least it’s sunny! Highlights of my day today: purchased gloves, ate a bagel sandwich, and sleeeeeeeeep. :)
I’ll report back with all the fun tech rehearsal deets tomorrow! Thrilling! Stay tuned!
